CHARACTER DESIGN

Three Expressions

A character study of a bald, bearded man drawn three times, each version capturing a different emotional register calm and guarded on the left, mid-laugh with eyes squeezed shut in the center, and tense or startled on the right. The loose, sketchy linework and warm, unfussy shading keep the focus entirely on expression rather than polish, treating the same face as a kind of testing ground. Seen together, the three panels feel less like separate portraits and more like a single person cycling through the range of what one face can do.
