The Empty Doorway

A watercolor village scene - a small mud-brick house with a red tiled roof, its doorway open and dark, set beneath a tall shading tree and hazy mountains in the distance. Loose, sun-bleached washes of ochre and terracotta give the ground a dry, quiet warmth, while patches of green scrub soften the foreground. The house sits alone, untouched by any figure, and that emptiness is what carries the piece, a home rendered with care, but with no one shown coming or going, leaving the viewer to wonder who it's waiting for.
